About Us

How does math instruction work in a multi-grade classroom?

We use self-paced math workbooks that allow for independent work. Teachers are always available to work with children one-on-one or in small groups, and we offer after school tutoring  one day a week.  Beginning in Level 3, students also have the option to use Teaching Textbooks, a complete mathematics curriculum which includes lectures with every lesson and explanations on how to answer every problem that the student misses. Additionally, Level 4 students who wish to take advanced mathematics courses with more teacher direction may opt to sign up for courses conducted by an online Christian school.  Parents and teachers will work together to find the best curriculum and placement for each student.

Is your math curriculum Common Core aligned?

No.  The curriculum providers we have selected have chosen not to align their products to the  Common Core Standards.  Your child will have the opportunity to take "old fashioned" mathematics, which means that you will probably even be able to help them with their homework.

The mission of Sheridan Christian Academy is to provide a high quality, Christ centered education that cultivates both mind and spirit while building knowledge, inquiry, self-worth, and moral fortitude upon a foundation of Biblical faith and principles.
